We gave it our best shot. The tri-tip was smokin. The beans were gassin. The chile was on fire. We did not get the brass ring. We did get second place and a check for 200 dollars. We had high hopes and lofty expectations. We left with our heads held high. We lost to a higher authority. It was the local Catholic Church who had the victorious brew. Good times were had by all. There was a great car show The weather was smoking hot. We will return next year to reclaim our crown!
That's still REALLY GOOD.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
Yeah, well, I was there. I tasted all the competition and it was rigged. The church used canned chili and topped it with bagged shredded cheese. It was the congregation that voted them in, not the end result.
ReplyDeleteI tasted each and every submission and even with friend competing, he was easily head & antlers above all. Chilebrown was the only one that made true chili. The others had too much cocoa, cinnamon, cheese, canned corn or some other Ghod awful ingredient. He stayed true and made a real pot of Chili.
Here's a few shots I took of the day:

Wow, congrats and $200 is nothing to sneeze at! I'm with Biggles - I think the game was rigged.
