It is Thanksgiving eve and wild turkeys are cruising through out our neighborhood. The image below was taken one block away from our house. These turkeys are a nuisance and probably will eventually take over our neighborhood. Ms. Goofy will have to practice her bow and arrow skills for protection. We do have a domesticated Willie Bird in our refrigerator. Tomorrow this bird will be visiting our grill. I cannot wait. We would like to wish everyone a delicious Thanksgiving.
We have wild turkeys in our neighborhood, too, and although they leave large poops behind, I think they are beautiful. Have you seen the PBS Nature documentary, "My Year As a Turkey"? If not, you should - it's fun and absolutely fascinating.
ReplyDeleteZoomie,"My Year As a Turkey" could be a story about me.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Enjoy your Willie Bird.
ReplyDeleteThe birds is comin'.
ReplyDeleteWe'll get even tomorrow.
Chris, Thanks, We are curious of the results.
ReplyDeletecookiecrumb, I am making extra gravy.
Zoomie, I just watched the show you were talking about. It is called. "My Life as a Turkey"
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/my-life-as-a-turkey/full-episode/7378/
I enjoyed it. It had great shots of nature and was interesting. I found it fascinating for the fact that the author was a complete whack job, nut case freak. You take a year and one half out of your life to become a mother to wild turkeys. You then become just another bird. You bond with
'Sweet Pea and Big Tom.' You become a brother to the male and eventually have to fight for life to be able to breed with the hen.
When the Tom's uprise in Rodeo and Ridchmond there will be havoc. Nightmares tonight.
Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
ReplyDeleteReverend, Right back to you brother. I am lighting the barbeque fire for the Willie Bird in 10 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWe had 2 different family plans fall through for today. So, it's just Tami and myself relaxing today. Am off to the kitchen, I'm going to figure out how to make scones. Got me some blackberries to add to them.
