CRONUT

A cross of a croissant and a doughnut is the now popular Cronut. In New York City they line up for blocks to experience freshly baked Cronuts. We have found a local bakery, The Bear Claw who has freshly baked Cronuts and no line. They have several versions of this new sensation. They have a Nutella, lemon, and apple filled versions. We purchased a lemon and apple Cronut that was still warm to the touch. They were sweet, flaky and doughnut like. Maybe I am a traditionalist, but I still prefer a (bacon) maple bar.

  1. OMG!You are killing me here. I have a dentist appointment in a few and now I need a cronut or maybe a pastry. Choices,so many choices.

  2. No breakfast pastry is worth standing on line for.

Dave said we missed each other at Smokehouse 10 Saturday by 20 minutes, alas. Hope the chili cookoff treated you well; my beef rib was mighty tasty.

  4. Greg, Go for it. The dentist will just tell you to be sure to floss.

Aaron, You got that right. The only place I ever stood in line was at Mama's Royal Cafe. That was a very long time ago.

Three Dogs BBQ, The easy answer is both. A flaky sweet dough with a filling.

  5. I still haven't gotten around to a cronut but I rarely eat breakfast anyway. I should go get one for lunch.
