HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST

Ms. Goofy outdid herself with this cupcake treat. It brought me back directly to my childhood. The shelf-life of these treats were only a couple of days compared to the commercial versions; couple of years.

POST OFFICE BOXES

Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher said, “Change is the only constant in life.” Well I want to push the B/S button on Mr. Heracalitus. I am talking about the new mailboxes in case you wonder where this was going. Pictured above is a drive through mailbox. It is a constant aspect of life that I have taken for granted my whole life. You take a letter, put a stamp on it and drive to the Post Office and deposit it in a trusty blue bin. Apparently the "Bad Guys" have been taking a type of fishing line with adhesive as bait and stealing mail by the deposit slot. To combat this nefarious action the postal service is slowly replacing the beloved mailbox with a tamper proof mail slot. This new box does not have a drop off chute. One must manipulate the letter through a tiny slot. This requires one to get out of their car. It is the end of the world as we know it. Who knows? They may start sending mail by some electronic manipulation.

TOUR DE FRANCE 2023

Are you ready for 21 days of 'Racing & Snacks". We are several weeks away from the Tour de France. This is a bicycle race I love to watch. My friend from England sent me the official race guide only available in the U.K. He knows that I will be on the couch in front of the boob tube to watch every hour of this 21 day race. I plan to have many snacks on hand.

MARIN JOE'S

We are on a food adventure to Marin Joe's in Corte Madera California. We have visited three other 'Joe's' restaurants throughout the Bay Area and this was on our list. Two of the Joe's are run by the same family. Marin Joe's and Original Joe's San Jose are run by completely different families and are not affiliated. They are different but the same.

We went early on a Friday night without a reservation. We got parking very close on the street. They do have a valet service but we could not pass up free parking so close. We walked through the door and were seated immediately. Marin Joe's has the same atmosphere of their competitors. It is not fancy, open kitchen and inviting bar area. Most of the waitstaff are very experienced. That is code word for old. The staff may be old but our waitress was fun, engaging and very efficient. She was top notch. The menu is the same as the other Joe's restaurants and I would even venture to say a tiny, miniscule cheaper than the others. That was surprising because Corte Madera is a tony town and we were a block away from the Tesla dealer.

The food is comfort Italian/American. It is not frilly but so satisfying. This is a dinner that we love and crave. My prime rib and ravioli was just what the doctor ordered. Ms. Goofy with chicken Marsala was silent while she devoured her plate. I did leave room for spumoni. It was a decent rendition and is a must order when we partake at the various Joe restaurants. This place is an old school winner.
